Tasks and objectives


The circle of friends of the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing has promoted the work of the facility since 1949 and has been carrying its ideas to all Bavarian areas. The members of the Circle of Friends of the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing belong to their local circle of friends existing in more than twenty Bavarian towns. These circles invite to lectures and discussions, to cultural events, excursions and sociable come-together meetings in the evening and influence the spiritual life in their individual area.


The Circle of Friends invites its members several times a year to central events, where political, cultural and social issues are discussed in the spirit of the Evangelische Akademie and where the particularities of the conference venues are brought home to the participants. The Circle of Friends offers its members excursions to destinations in Germany, Europe and the Middle East, guided by very experienced guides, to broaden people's mind regarding the people, the history and the culture of the respective area.

The Circle of Friends informs its members about the work of the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing and the work of the circle by means of regular publications.


The Circle of Friends advertises for understanding and support concerning the work of the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing in Bavaria. It is committed to encourage open-mindedness and tolerance in social issues. The circle brings together people, who on the one hand give their own opinion but who on the other hand are curious to learn about other people's positions.

The Circle of Friends selectively funds the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing with donations. The Circle of Friends supports the understanding of current Christian issues and answers being in close contact to local Protestant parishes.

Committee and Convention

Heading institutions of the Circle of Friends are the Circle Committee and the Circle Convention being elected at the general meeting or by postal vote every five years.

The convention sets the guidelines for the work of the Circle of Friends and comes to necessary decisions. The Circle Committee and the offices execute them.

The office also works together with and advises the local circles of friends. The regional heads of the circles meet twice a year, reporting on their work, exchanging experiences and staying in close contact with the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing.

How to become a member

You will become a member of the Circle of Friends by filling in the membership form. The membership fee comes to € 40.- per year, however the fee due for young people aged up to 27 is only € 10.-. As the Circle of Friends, being acknowledged to deserve financial support, the membership fees are considered as special expenses and therefore deductible in assessing income tax.

As a member of the Circle of Friends you can support the work of the Evangelische Akademie Tutzing financially and spiritually as well as participate at the same time.
